Bottom Line: A large and durable rope tarp/backpack bag
Ratings: Overall: 4/5, Durability: 5/5, Value: 5/5, Comfort: 4/5
Pros: durability, price, large size great for carrying extra gear, excellent features
Cons: not the most comfortable, no padding on straps, limited colors
Features:
- Dimensions: 24 x 17 x 2 inches
- Weight: 1.23 lbs or 625 grams
- 2′ high
- 17″ wide
- Can comfortably carry a rope of up to 80 meters, plus climbing gear.
- EASY TO USE: Protective tarp is integrated into the bag, providing a clean area of 140 x 140 cm and a place to easily store the rope.
- STORE: Handles on four corners of the tarp for storing the rope in the bag.
- ORGANIZE: Two different colored loops to identify the ends and keep the rope from tangling.
- ADJUST: Features adjustable shoulder straps for greater comfort when moving around.
Activities: rock climbing, ice climbing, aid climbing, rope access work
Familiarity: used 3 years with heavy use all over Northeastern USA.
Durability: I have used and abused this rope bag and it has not torn or had any serious damage to it. The tarp is pretty durable against the rocks that I have laid it on while climbing.
Features: The bag features two color coded fabric loops to attach the ends of rope to so that the rope doesn’t tangle. Added loops on the 4 corners of the tarp are excellent for securing the tarp bag to the ground, a ledge or to yourself.
Missing features: shaving weight is not the focus of this bag so I would like to see padded straps for carrying the bag. The comfort it could add would be well worth the added weight.
