I would recommend this product
Comfort – I would grade this a 5/5 for comfort while solo backpacking but more like a 3/5 while sleeping in it with a partner. I do not recommend using this while backpacking for 2 people. We tried countless ways to make it work but were not successful.
Warmth – Due to the DoubleNest’s breathability, an extra layer for added warmth is needed for early spring, fall, and winter camping.
Packability – For lightweight backpacking, this setup is the way to go. It cut down on weight and bulk, it is easy to setup and pack away, and accessories like rain tarps and bug nets can be easily used with this setup
My Hammock Camping Setup – While hammock camping I have found a few additions to the hammock that make solo hammock camping feel like sleeping in the clouds.
- A sleeping pad (the Klymit Insulated Static V is my go-to sleeping pad)
- A warm sleeping bag (such as the Mountain Hardware Phantom Torch 3)
- An extra down/synthetic mid layer for a pillow or added warmth where it may be needed ( I usually pack my Rab Photon X Jacket for this purpose)
- A bug net that covers the hammock (I use the ENO Guardian SL Bug Net)
- A rain tarp, in case of bad weather, like the Vigor Waterproof Rainfly is a great buy
